I've searched all the celiac info and can't find an answer to this, so I
thought I'd ask the group. I know what the symptoms of CD are, but what
are the long-term effects of untreated CD? If a celiac continues to eat
gluten, what exactly happens? I know there's dal had stomach cramps and bloating ,
heartburn and such. On the weekend of St. Pats day I decided to have an
Irish coffee took my lactaid while the coffee was brewing I felt rotten the
next day. I got one the net and search for the lactose intolerance site
and posted a question whether alcohol destroyed the enzyme. [...]35_20Apr199701:10:[log in to unmask] 9704C 3794 12 7_vanilla12_Ruth E. [log in to unmask], 20 Apr 1997 08:38:28 -0600366_- <<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>>

I am having a difficult time finding vanilla that does not contain alcohol.
Does anyone know if the "pure" vanilla that comes from Mexico is GF. I
have some in a bottle with no label, Any advice or suggestions would be
appreciated.

This is an appeal for area members interested in buying Brown Rice Flakes.
My Organic Market (M.O.M.) at 11711B Parklawn Drive offers organic brown
rice flakes but the owner, Scott, says he is going to discontinue them
because they aren't selling. I use these to make a granola-type bar cookie.
I'm posting the recipe to the list so you can see there's something tasty to
make with them. So would anyone in this area who wants to try the flakes
please call Scott at 301-816-4944 and let him know you're [...]38_20Apr199714:58:[log in to unmask] 9704C 3827 41 24_/R Brown Rice Flake Bars16_Peter Von [log in to unmask], 20 Apr 1997 15:01:50 -0400513_- <<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>>

This recipe is adapted from the "O'George Bar" recipe by Marcea Weber in her
_Naturally Sweet Desserts_ (Avery), a cookbook that has a surprising number
of original or easily modified gf treats. This recipe is also sugar (if
fruit juice alone is used), egg, baking powder, soy, corn, and dairy free!
It's a good snack or breakfast or energy bar. I've put the few changes in
brackets. [...]38_20Apr199715:01:[log in to unmask] 9704C 3869 18 30_Del Monte question [log in to unmask], 20 Apr 1997 09:48:29 +0000589_- <<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>>

"The list I received from Del Monte last fall says that all their
tomatoes & tomato products (except Salsas/Picante Sauces) , Dried Fruits
(except Fruit Snacks), 100% Fruit Juices, all Gel snack cups, all
pudding cups, all canned vegetables, and all canned fruits are GF * Free
from gluten of wheat, oats, barley, and rye.. Know this was more than
you asked for, but thought maybe it could help with any future questions
about their products. Carolyn." [...]43_20Apr199709:48:[log in to unmask] 9704C 3888 32 25_Article in First Magazine12_Ruth E. [log in to unmask], 20 Apr 1997 10:53:51 -0600560_- <<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>>

I don't know if any of you are familiar with or read For Women First
Magazine, but last month there was a "Doctor on Call" column about a
patient who went to her doctor complaining of an upset stomach, weight
loss, d

My husband did the grocery shopping this week & came home w/ Del Monte
spaghetti sauce...... usually we use Ragu & Prego because the
manufacturer states they are GF.

So... are Del Monte spaghetti sauce w/ mushrooms & w/ garlic & onion GF?

Suspect ingredients include:
tomato paste (vinegar?)
modified food starch
spices
natural flavors

I *hate* to find out through trial & error!
