I have been gluten-free for four months. My favorite day on my rotation diet
is "rice day" when I eat several varieties of puffed rice and millet cereals
with Rice Dream for breakfast. About a month ago I began to notice that I
had a "queasy" stomach after my rice breakfast. So, just wondering about
Rice Dream as a result of some of the postings on this list, I decided to try
several other brands of rice milk. For two breakfasts I had Westbrae
concentrated rice milk diluted as per the package instructions. Then I tried
Pacific Rice. I noticed that I did not have any queasy stomach. So,
wondering if it was indeed the Rice Dream (I have eaten the exact same
cereals from the exact same containers on all occasions) I had my Rice Dream
today. Within about half an hour I felt an enormous bloating sensation.
Once I got to work I felt even worse. I went to the bathroom when I started
feeling really queasy and nauseous and "lost" my breakfast. Now I just DON'T
lose meals--I haven't done that since the time about 15 years ago when I got
food poisoning in Tokyo.
This is the first time in 14 days that I have had Rice Dream and I think that
this is a pretty strong reaction.
Has anyone out there had a strong reaction such as this from an "offending"
food?? I don't want to condemn Rice Dream completely at this time because
I did have some bloating and gas last night from something I ate at dinner,
but I woke up feeling good today.
