Hi List Members!

There has been a recent thread about doctors not being helpful when
dealing with Celiac Disease patients and statements made wishing doctors
would show more knowledge about Celiac Disease to their patients.

My suggestion would be for each of us would be to start by being a more
responsible patient....try presenting the doctor with LOTS of reliable
information on Celiac Disease. By constantly searching and reading about CD
to give to the doctor, you in turn are learning about CD and can better
understand it also. There is LOTS of accurate and very helpful information
'out there' for just a little effort on your part.

I would first start seeking information right here on the Celiac
List...please do check out the archive files of the Celiac List (check your
WELCOME message for the how to do's) for LOTS and LOTS of up-to-date and
helpful information that can be downloaded, printed and hand delivered to
the doctor. (My personal feeling is that if the CD information is hand
delivered the doctor can then associate the disease with the patient.)

Check out Celiac Disease on Web sites:
        http://www.celiac.com
        http://www.panix.com/~donwiss/
        http://shoga.wwa.com/~pej

If each List Member provided any information on CD that they could find,
presented it to their doctor, just think how many more doctors would be
LOTS more knowledgeable about CD. It might not happen overnight but in
a short time change takes place. You can make a difference.

Try turning the negative feelings into positive ones and try being a more
responsible patient. (You will feel LOTS better too!)
