Hi List,

Just a while ago guar gum was mentioned and it was said it was adviced not
to use it instead of xanthan gum because it was a laxative.

However, since it is so much cheaper than xanthan gum, we decided to try it
out for ourselves. We used it several times, and did not notothered
to write.

I also checked the WWW and found an article by Don Kassarda on one
of the pages of Scott Adams. The text says, that based on taxonomy
(relations between plants), the said items should be OK for celiacs. [...]46_9Mar199716:17:[log in to unmask] 9703B 406 37 34_/R Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies11_Lynda [log in to unmask], 9 Mar 1997 13:24:21 -0800726_- <<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>>

Received replies from people who suffer from both celiac and Raynauds.
Many supposed it was incidental to another disease (diabetes,
rheumatoid, etc.) or just a fluke (had not related the two together
before now). About 75% were female (Raynaud's has a higher incidence in
females), but about 25% were males. People reported relief by putting
hands in warm water, wearing extra warm gloves or socks (silk gloves
also suggested), or rubbing the hands gently until the circulation
returned. It it seems to occur during any season in response to contact

According to the "Primer on Rheumatic Diseases - 10-th Edition", "as
many as 80% of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) patients have null
(C4A) alleles irrespective of ethnic background, with homozygous C4a (I
think that should say C4A) deficiency conferring a very high risk for
SLE. Since C4a (again should say C4A) null alleles [...]42_10Mar199701:32:[log in to unmask] 9703B 522 21 12_Bone [log in to unmask], 10 Mar 1997 02:13:02 -0500582_- <<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>>

These are the responses I received on the back pain.

**Obviously related, however I have been told that you can have the
dificiencies, but it doesn't mean you have reached the stage of
  osteoporosis yet

*Osteopenia - unable to find definition

*Osteopetrosis - excessive deposits of calcium

I hope this helps some of you out there and again our deepest and warmest
thanks for your input. My friend is looking into all of this and hopefully
one will help.
