On 1/22/97, I spoke with Roger Lake (mgr. of research & development) at
White House in Winchester, VA. The White House brand products that are
GF are: apple juice, cider vinegar, unsweetened apple sauce and the
Natural Plus applesauce (sweetened, very lightly, with apple juice
concentrate which I was assured was a syrup made from pure apple juice
that had been reduced). The company does not consider the sweetened
applejuice to be GF because the vendor that supplies the corn syrup used
as a sweetener told them that there is a trace amount of gluten in the
corn syrup. When I asked where the gluten came from, I was told it was
in the corn. Personally, I use the Natural Plus applesauce and love it.
White House brand is available in VA, the Carolinas and FL. Of course I
do not have any interest (other than as a satisfied customer) in this
company.

Jane (in VA)
