A friend who has now been diagnosed with celiac disease has previously been
diagnosed as having collagenous colitis which is a very rare disorder. This
diagnosis was made 5 years ago when she had unremitting diarrhea. Symptoms
disappeared for 5 years and returned this Jan. She has had the biopsy for
CD and it was positive. She is now wondering whether she has collagenous
colitis also or just CD. She has been on the GF diet and is responding but
very slowly. We were wondering if anyone has any information about
collagenous colitis. Also, has anyone heard of having acute symptoms of CD,
5 years of no symptoms, and then full-blown CD? Thanks for any input.
