I rerceived a nice letter from Michael Jacobson, Ph.D., Executive Director of
the Center for Science in the PUblic Interest, and publisher of Nutrition
Action Healthletter. As I have mentioned before, he is wise in the ways of
lobbying to get food labelling action out of Congress and the FDA, and he has
a large readership for his excellent newsletter.
In his letter he says: "Thanks for your recent letter and enclosures. We
received qauite a few e-mails from your group. It seems to me that the
easiest thing to do would be to devise a logo, such as: a box with GF in it
and to encourage every manufacturer to place it on products that are gluten
free. Ideally, you would get national medical organizations concerned about
celiac disease, and perhaps allergies, to support your request. That
approach would avoid dealing with the Food and Drug Administration, which
would probably never require companies to use such a symbol. Keep me posted
about anything you do. Sincerely,,,,,
Oh, well, I guess he won't do it for us! How can we do it??? If anyone
has any ideas or thoughts on the subject, kindly post them. Thanks Amy
