After consulting with the GI I was referred to, by phone (he wanted some
background info.), I came away with an odd impression.
He said some things which seemed a little obtuse, like, based on almost
nothing more than I'm not Irish (whether I have any distant Irish relatives
is unknown) he thought it unlikely I have CD. Also, for an expert he seemed
rather ill-informed repeating a couple of misconceptions common among other
specialties, like, CD is rare, didn't agree with CD being common among people
of European descent and didn't seem familiar with the stats. on CD among the
general population, etc.
What do you know about the doctor's assertion about the Irish and CD. Also,
do you think I should look for another GI specialist, one more familiar with
CD.
Any input you provide would be greatly appreciated,
Michael Knee
