I got several responses to my inquiry about whether any of
you had noticed an increased sensitivity to skin irritations such
as poison oak or bug bites now that you're GF:
>>"I don't know what to make of it, but I have become VERY
much more sensitive to bug bites, as well."
>>"I have had one incident like you have described. I have
never had ANY skin sensitivities, ever. I bought some very nice
body lotions from Sears and broke out in a terrible rash. I went
back to the Victoria's Secret lotions and all is well again. I have
never had any type of skin sensitivities, even when using cheapo
lotions. I don't know whether this is related to CD and being GF,
but I can't imagine that it's not."
For me, these sensitivities are in addition to others I've developed
to my favorite shampoo and Tronolane (sp?), the active
ingredient in most anti-bacterial soaps. Perhaps the chemical
sensitivities are a blessing in disguise, since the net result is that
I must choose products that have fewer manmade chemicals
in them.
