Can anyone please give me any information on how celiac may affect the gall
bladder?

Before diagnosis I suffered for 4-5 years with discomfort under my right
rib. A scan of the gall bladder was negative. On diagnosis my Alkaline
phosphotase level was really very very high - a scan of the gall bladder
revealed no stones but a very distended gall bladder. My consultant said
it was okay.

Six months after being on the diet my alkaline phosphotase was back to
normal. I have since had the same pain - almost as if someone is squeezing
something, a feeling of a football under my ribs and tenderness at the rib
margin - this is almost always after an accidental ingestion of gluten but
not always! A blood test at A&E on Friday (not celiac connected) revealed
a raised alkaline phosphotase. I am almost sure I must have had some
gluten in Prague four days before.

I am wondering if gall bladder complications are common with cd and what
those complications might be - also is the removal of the gall bladder the
answer?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Chris
