The USDA announce at the Americam Chemist Society meeting in Orlando on August
25 the availability of a new fat replacer (Z-trim). It is made of fiber from
the hulls of oats, corn, or soybeans.

Z-trim is similar in function to Olestra but is not expected to have simliar
adverse side effects.

The GF status of this new fat replacer can be debated, since oats is one of the
possible ingredients. The bad point is that it is another nebulous term that
should be researched.
