I've noticed the PowerGel posts and can't help wondering why nobody
mentions how detrimental it is to consume such an imbalanced proportion
of one nutrient. After all, whenever others have mentioned
supplementation of minerals, vitamins or aminos there is always a post
that "reminds" or "warns" everyone about such an imbalanced intake of
nutrients. The amount of sugar (cornsyrup, fructose) in these bars is
very obviously imbalanced and unnatural to the extreme. In fact, other
than a sugar rush followed by a insulin "down", I see no benefits to
this kind of "supplementation". I have read that sugar in large
amounts, actually compromises the immune system. It also causes the
body to use up other vital nutrients especially minerals and water.
I'm not saying don't eat the powerbar if you enjoy it. I'm just saying:
watch out for the side effects! :)
