November 3rd is the second anniversary of our List. During the last
year, we have experienced a great deal of growth and success:

(a) Our subscriber base has almost doubled, from 880 to 1,638. We now
have subscribers from 30 nations. There have been a total of
8,858 messages during these two years, roughly 12 per day.

(b) CEL-PRO has grown dramatically, especially after the 7th
International Symposium on Coeliac Disease in Finland. We now have
almost 120 subscribers, including many of the most well-known
researchers and clinicians. (CEL-PRO is a separate list strictly
for medical professionals with a research or clinical interest in
    CD.)

(c) Our Usenet link was established as <bit.listserv.celiac>. This
allows those with newsreaders to access our list in a format which
some find more convenient than straight email.

(d) With the help of Ted Hodges, all our of 109 reference files are now
mirrored on the WWW at <http://www.fastlane.net/homepages/thodge/
archive.htm>. This allows very fast and easy access to many
excellent files covering the range from very basic to fairly
sophisticated topics on CD. For those without WWW access, these
files are available via email -- for a list, send an email to

The quality of this list is a direct result of its subscribers and for
that everyone should receive a personal pat on the back. Your
diverse background is one of the greatest assets of our group and
allows us all to learn. This applies to everyone, including biopsy-
confirmed celiacs, self-diagnosed celiacs, those with wheat allergies,
as well as medical and research professionsal who are providing us
some of their valuable time and insights.

The Listowners desire to say farewell to one of their members who
has contributed to list operations. Evan Hunt is leaving the list, as
it has now been determined that his wife does not have CD. We thank
Evan for his help, especially in the early days of the list, and wish
him well in the future.

I want to thank St. Johns, my co-Listowners, and everyone who has
posted on the List for their efforts and support. For those interested
in the origin and early history of our List, there is a reference file
available with my "First Anniversary" message. To get this file, send a
message to [log in to unmask] containing this line:
