You are right.  But I was not dismissing it in this case because of its
unpleasantness.  The letter suggested that Shashi was sensitive to gluten and
was aware of it already.  An adult who is aware ought not to need a biopsy to
verify that they ought to refrain from eating gluten.  In the case of a child
who cannot control their own diet, it is a different situation.

I don't think in Shashi's case things are as cut and dry as you imply.

This from what I have read is no doubt true.  I got the impression you
thought I was trivializing this mans condition and my own condition.  I am
very careful with my diet now and I am not a celiac.  I have an entirely
different situation. I sympathize with you and your daughter and I wish you
well.
