I am surprised when I hear people saying they've asked
resturaunts to take their food into the kitchen and
prepare it. I would be very concerned about the kitchen
contaminating the food in a toaster used for wheat
bread. One friend even told me she takes pasta to an
italian resturaunt and asks them to cook it up. The
way wheat pasta puts a hard to clean scum on the
sides of pots, I would never trust that they cleaned
it well enough.
On the other hand, I often take food into resturaunts
for my kids. When the food I ordered arrives, I add
the bread, etc. to the plate myself. I've never
had a resturaunt complain about this.
I don't think it is unreasonable for a food
establishment to control what goes into their kitchen.
I also would not be at all surprised that they would
be written up by a health inspector (if caught) for
allowing food from an unknown source to be prepared
in their kitchen.
