Our newsletters are sent to all known dieticians in the state
(and gastroenterologists)- plus our local health food stores. One year
we set up a table at the local Health Fair of the Midlands. We found
very few Celiacs this way, but did attract several dieticians.
We are lucky to have the person who wrote the article in Diabetes
Forecast magazine reside in our state and she accepted an invitation to
speak at our support group in the future (she wrote about the Diabetes/Celiac
connection).
We also have a Dietician as a member of our group (non-Celiac)
but she has not participated recently.
On a personal note, I know a dietician not from my state, who was
totally unaware of the Celiac groups and the internet information, and she
has family members who have it! We just have to continue to try to get the
word out. Our support group locally offers to help newly diagnosed Celiacs
and we let the doctors and dieticians know this. Lynn in Omaha
