I have been on a GF diet for 5 years and in the last 3 months developed an
itchy patch on my elbow that just got diagnosed as DH. I adhere to the diet
very well and am aware due to GI problems when I inadvertently consume
gluten. I am very surprised (and upset!) to now find out I have DH. A year
ago my antibody titers were normal and I think they would be now, as well,
due to diet compliance. I guess I am interested in whether developing DH so
long after initiating a GF diet seems reasonable. The FAQ indicated that it
would more likely happen within 1 year. Could this lesion not be DH? The
Dr. did not do a biopsy of it but says it looks like it and is consistent
with CD.

Also, although I only have one patch of this near my elbow, my whole arm
feels rather sore and weak. The Dr. says this is not related but over the
past 3 mo, when this thing has flared up, the arm problems have been there.
I have been putting OTC hydrocortisone on it and that kept it under control
until the last few days. Anyway, do people w/ DH have soreness/weakness
associated with the lesions?

Thank you for any input/advice. Kathy
