Dear Leona,
I'm sorry to hear that you are still having trouble 40 years
after your diagnosis with celiac disease. It's hard for
me to offer advice because I don't know what you have tried. Is there
something else besides celiac that is causing you trouble? In addition to
the naturopathic doctor, are you also under the care of a medical doctor?
If it is just celiac disease, are you perhaps accidently getting gluten
into your system without knowing it?
Here's what I did that was so sucessful:
I put myself under the care of a very special
MD who had a wholistic approach to wellness and wasn't afraid to
experiment with alternative therapies. Under his guidance I started a
gluten free diet, stopped eating foods that were harming me, like sugar,
caffeine and alcohol, underwent extensive testing for many allergies and
then started taking shots for everything I tested allergic to, began
mega-vitamin therapy, saw a psychologist to help me deal with the
emotional side of these changes, began meditating daily, and getting
regular exercise. I took all these steps very seriously, and am still
doing them 20 years later. I attribute my success to a combination of all
these things, plus a fanatic committment to the gluten free diet.
I hope you too can conquer this disease.
