Hi all,
Being gluten intolerant, I'm always on the lookout for activities in
which I can participate without fear of ingesting said potions. As some
of you may have noticed from my sig file, I belong to a non-profit club
that organizes 6-day horse back trail rides in the Canadian Rockies.
Though these are not particularly gluten free, I can manage - for the
most part.
My question here is: Could we get together at least 15 people who would
be interested in taking a GF trail ride? If there was enough interest, I
would be glad to talk to the outfitter to see if we could do it. The
only gluten readily seen would be fed to the horses (oats). :-)
Obviously, the cook would have to be given some GF training and recipes.
We would then have to agree on which week the GF ride was to be and
designate it as such. The ride would possibly have non-gi/non-celiac
people on it, but the idea would be to forbid any gluten-containing
foods from entering the cooking/dining area during that week.
If anyone would care to comment on the feasibility of doing this, or
would like to express an interest in coming on such a trail ride, please
e-mail me directly (or just respond to this message). Decisions would
have to be made as soon as possible, but not later than the end of
January (to give non-gi/non-celiac people a chance to ride on another
week).
If you have any questions about the rides, please feel free to surf into
our web site (also in the sig file at the bottom of this message) or
e-mail me. I have to tell you that the area in which we're riding in
1997 is one of the most spectacular in the Rockies.
