The Scott Adams Celiac Page website has an article written by a CPA
regarding TAX deductability of special foods for the medically necessary
Celiac diet. The author warns that if you file a listing of the cost
difference between regular grocery items, and specialty foods as a
medical expense, to be prepared to be audited. For those who have filed
for Celiac foods as a medical expense, has this been the case?
Supposedly one can write off the mileage expenses of traveling farther
to stores that carry the items & shipping costs to have specialty foods
delivered. Have others written off the cost of a breadmaker as well? No
doubt the Celiac diet is more expensive!
