The Iowa CSA chapter will meet on Saturday, October 19, from 9 a.m. to 3
p.m. in Montgomery Hall at the Johnson County Fairgrounds just south of
Iowa City. The easiest way to reach the fairgrounds is from I-380 South.
Take the Riverside Drive/Airport Exit, and the fairgrounds will be on the
west side of the highway just after you exit. Montgomery Hall is near the
fairgrounds entrance.

Lunch ($3 contribution) will include a GF main course cooked by chapter
members along with GF dishes in a potluck assembled by those attending.
Bring a recipe or full ingredient list and your own eating utensils along
with your potluck contribution. The morning program will focus on product
and recipe demonstrations including a presentation by Julie Goldman from
the Uncommon Food Company in Des Moines and a demonstration of cooking with
transparent paper, and sample products from a new mail order home bakery
and a local store, Food for Thought, which has an excellent selection of GF
products.

Dr. Joseph Murray, Coordinator of the University of Iowa Celiac Clinic and
Bev Clearman, the Clinic dietitian, will speak after lunch. Dr. Murray will
report recent medical developments. His presentation will include a report
on the conference in Finland and on the visit to Iowa City last spring by
Dr. Michael Marsh, author of the classic text on celiac disease.

Everyone is welcome. For further information, contact the chapter
president, Betty Bast. She is not on the net but can be reached by
telephone at 319-352-4740.
