HELP!!! the first time i made this bread several months ago, it turned out
reasonably well. every subsequest attempt the bread has hardly risen at
all. The texture is right, and the taste is better than the commercial stuff
(Ener-G) that i pay $4.50-5.00 CDN a loaf for. But i only get six slices
from a bread machine loaf, because the loaf only fills the bottom half of
the bread pan. Four hours of effort for 6 slices was more trouble than it
was worth, so i went back to buying the commercial stuff.
There are lots of bubble holes in the bread, and i've bought new yeast
packages every time i've tried - which means of course i've thrown out 2 of
3 yeast envelopes :P. My spouse has recently lost his job, and our budget
has to be trimmed. If i can get my free (Christmas 94) bread machine to do
something decent not buying commercial bread will help a LOT - i eat
sandwiches on my 30 min lunch breaks 4-5 days a week, which means a lot of
bread.
BTW, my machine is a WestBend Automatic Bread & Dough Maker bought from
Eaton's (major Canadian dept store chain). It has some amazing looking
receipe addtions in its cookbook i'd love to try if i can just get an
ordinary loaf to turn out!!!
any brilliant suggestions???
