Hal,
When I first tried a GF diet after DH diagnosis, I gave up in disgust after
1 month and no improvement. I then went to the library and did
some research and found that it often takes at least 3 months. After being
back on the GF diet for almost exactly 3 months the symptoms disappeared.
Months later I naively decided to see if I was "cured" and resumed a normal
diet. In about 3 months the symptoms returned. Apparently these time frames
can vary from person to person and of course will depend on the
fastideousness of the diet. I am currently 99.9% GF and have no lesions and
require no dapsone. The library reference eludes me at the moment, but I
took great heart in the information when I first read it, especially since
the doctors didn't have a clue how long it would take! I will E-mail it to
you when I find it!
Good Luck!
Roy
