I was originally diagnosed with an ulcer. When medication to clear that up
did not completely alleveiate the problem, my doctor performed an endoscopic
biopsy. When I got the phone call from her that I had "non-tropical sprue,
also known as celiac sprue", I though I had something fatal, since I'd never
heard of such an illness. 10 years later and I'm doing just fine. I'm glad
this doctor pushed forward and had me biopsied or I'd never know.
