When I was undergoing pre-diagnosis testing several years ago, my new
gastroenterologist ordered an upper g.i. test. Something strange showed up on
that test that made him decide to do the biopsy. He did not suspect celiac
disease before the upper g.i. test. I have often wondered why, therefore, this
test has not been considered a screening test for celiac disease. Was my case
unique, or do all damaged upper intestines reveal problems on upper g.i. tests?
