Given the length of the small intestine (and hence the time it takes to
really cut into nutritional intake), it's little wonder that there may be a
long gestation period to CD. For those like me who were and are very
insensitive for immediate GI effects, then they're without any obvious
symptoms at those early stages unless someone does a blood test.
 
The professionals use the term "asymptomatic"  or latent for these celiacs.
Same intestinal damage, same antibody count, same diagnosis.
 
The pathway to nausea, vomiting, diarrhea may start from the same gluten
that the damage pathway does, but everyone has their own separate
sensitivities for each. These sensitivities are what change during that
long development period.
