I have had problems with canker sores ever since I was a small child. Since
I have gone without gluten my canker sores have not completely disappeared;
however, I do notice that I usually start to get them after visiting the
dentist. I went to a specialist several years ago and was told that
canker/cold sores are a form of the herpes virus and can be treated using a
medication called Zovirax-which I swear by. As soon as I notice a tingling
sensation by my mouth I take the medication. There is also a cream to put
on if you start to have an outbreak. I haven't had a canker/cold sore in
years since I started using Zovirax.
