Regardless of methodology questions, the editorial flags the
"unconvential" symptoms/presentations of CD right up front. First sentence:
"The report by Fine...adds a new dimension to our understanding of celiac
disease. Celiac disease can be overt, with the classic features of
diarrhea, weight loss, and generalized malnutrition, or subclinical, with
isolated nutrient deficiencies but no gastrointestinal symptoms."
May it shorten the path to diagnosis for those with "latent" or
"asymptomatic" conditions.
