I appreciate that this is really a question for a specialist, but, just in
case there is one on the list, I thought I would throw it out, anyway.
 
First, can damaged/flattened villi return to a normal healthy state if a GF
diet is strictly followed?
 
If the answer is "yes", what would account for cases of permanently damaged
(atrophied) villi?
 
Have any pertinent studies been undertaken, that a layperson might understand?
