I dont know what causes the stifness but I get the same thing.  Mine
comes & goes, when I first get up in the morning my feet hurt to walk on
and sometimes my hands stiffen up. Are your hands asleep when you wake up
in  the morning?  Maybe its a dificiency, I dont know.  Janet
