I've been following the thread of "Does intestinal infection/use of
strong antibiotics such as FLAGYL cause Celiac?" and I'm wondering:

Do these things cause celiac or just cause _symptoms_ to show? If a Celiac
ingests gluten, destruction of the intestinal lining occurs (or at least,
this is how I understand it). But not everyone shows symptoms all the
time. So perhaps you do indeed show _symptoms_ because of some traumatic
gut event (like salmonella, lots of antibiotics or whatever) but you may
have had the disease all the time, only it was working silently.

Am I off base with this?

Nathan
