I've eaten Perky's Nutty Rice cereal (by Pacific Grain
800-333-0110) for at least 2-3 years and hadn't questioned the
product. A few months ago I noticed a couple other products by the
same company (especially Nutty Wheat cereal) that made me question
the purity of Nutty Rice. I called the company and they said that
they couldn't guarantee that their wasn't cross contamination. The
person I talked with said the amount of possible was small (perhaps
parts per million) and that the equipment was cleaned pneumatically (i.e. by
blowing air) between batches. I guess consumers are left to decide
what kind of risk this poses. I know I don't want to end up with the
first box of Nutty Rice cereal that's made after a batch of Nutty
Wheat cereal is made.
