I've gotten a response from Ralston about their apparently gluten free Sun
Flakes. Apparently by the list of ingredients, but leaving the question of
cross contamination open. They have never had a complaint of a gluten
reaction. Gluten containing foods are  produced on the same production line
BUT, especially because Sun Flakes are also Kosher, their cleaning of that
line is very throrough - presumably that also raises the amount they
manufacture and thus justifies the extra effort they're making.

Apparently they regularly correspond with CSA on this matter. CSA is known
to be very "no gluten at all" in my experience.
 
That assurance is good enough for me --given the long term extra risk of
cancer on a regular gluten diet --5% lifetime probability as just quoted by
Dr. Murray --surely their cleaning makes that negligible.
 
Ralston is misinformed about the incidence of celiac, however. They thought
there are only 100,000 diagnosed in the US, though  they know we're very
vocal. That would correspond to 1 in 250. What is the current diagnosed
value here? Isn't it 1 in about 800, hence about 320,000?
