Do you mean cane sugar?  If yes, then that is a two-sugar molecule of
fructose and glucose.  It takes an enzyme to break it down into its
components, and I doubt it would be worth the time to devise a process
to do the same in a test tube/pot at home.

What you probably want is "corn sugar", which is a fairly pure glucose
and complex glucose sugar.  It can be purchased at any store that
sells ingredients to make home-brewed beer.  I have no idea how you
would make a confectioner's glaze from the corn sugar, though.  It's
probably a fairly straightforward recipe.
