I was told by a gastroenterologist some years ago that folic acid
supplementation was recommended for celiac. I had also seen a similar
recommendation somewhere else, and took his advice. Although it's
difficult to access one's energy level and alertness reliably, it seems
to me that since taking folic acid I've felt better. Anyway, I stopped
taking it about six months ago, and felt some of the old symptoms of
tiredness, fuzziness, ringing in ears return over the last few months. I
started taking it again a week ago and seem to be feeling back to normal
now. This subjective and non-specific anecdotal report is clearly of
limited value, but prompts me to ask whether anything is known about
whether folic acid supplementation is advisable for celiacs.
