Our Celiac Internet discussion group has been on line since early
November 1994, and now has 342 subscribers from 12 countries. We are
always interested in additional members, so tell your friends,
physician, and support group officers. We make a special effort to get
Celiac and medical professionals on board. Please Email me privately,
if there is someone you think we should contact.

After this message you will receive an additional message. It is an
updated welcome message that is sent to all new subscribers from the
listowners. This is a summary of some of the procedures used on this
LISTSERV and a special reminder to double check the ingredients of any
item mentioned or recommended in a messages for changes or errors that
might adversely effect your diet.

The archive files are now available from the Gopher at St Johns. This
is an additional service for those not subscribed to our LISTSERV.

Those who are being over taken by messages from multiple sources may
desire to change their configuration to digest. This method results in
a single Email every day with of the messages for the previous 24
hours. Details are in the Welcome Message.

There have been several recent system outages at St Johns. The
administrators regret any hardships imposed upon our subscribers.
Communication and hardware problems are a fact of any system. To
determine if there is a problem with our LISTSERV, send a query. This
is accomplished by sending Email to [log in to unmask] with the
text "query celiac". When a response is returned, the system is
operating normally. Possible responses are:

     1. Mail = yes
The system is responding and messages should be enroute.

     2. Mail = digest
Unless you configured your ID for digest, the ID was change by a
listowner because of multiple bounced messages from your ID.
Digest reduces the messages to a single error each day.

     3. Mail = no
This means that a listowner has stopped all messages to your ID
because of several days of bounced digest messages.

     4. Subscriber not found
Your ID was deleted because of a failure to respond to numerous
requests from a listowner to inform you of a problem with the ID.
In the future this may be the result of automatic deletion by the
LISTSERV resulting from severe error messages. This change is not
scheduled or desired at this time.

Questions about this or any subject can be directed to my ID. I will
attempt to resolve the issue, pass it along to an expert or recommend
that it be placed on the LISTSERV for discussion by everyone.
