In response to the recent inquiries about Dairy Ease and Lactaid,
I look in my "just-received" "A Passover Guide to Cosmetics and
Medications" from the Kollel-Los Angeles. It doesn't list Dairy
Ease at all, but it does list Lactaid and indicates that in both
caplet and drop form it is "chometz." Chometz means that it
contains ingredients derived from any of the following grains:
wheat, barley, oats, rye or spelt. So chometz means it is not
gluten free. I understand that the Kollel - Los Angeles works
very hard checking with manufacturers to provide the most accurate
information. This guide was just updated in March 1995, so I
would tend to trust it.
