The rectal biopsy is a fairly new technique that is starting to show some
promise.  At least one physcian (Dr Michael Marsh in Great Britian) is almost
ready to publish data on the realiability of this technique.

Until his paper is published this year, I can only make a guess as what type
of damage is being being looked for.  This test does not look for the classic
damaged villi.
