Just posting a followup to my issue of Thunderbird not recognizing the 
password for one of my AOL accounts in case someone else has a similar 
problem.


Weirdly, what fixed the problem was entering my actual email password. I 
say "weirdly" because I remember setting up an app password and remember 
reading a string of random characters when I went into the Thunderbird 
password area earlier this year. I also say "weirdly" because entering 
my real password was one of the first things I tried.


Technology is certainly a mystery.
