Hi All,
In a nutshell, I want to know how to change my password in Thunderbird.
I've done some Googling, but nothing is working.
I use Thunderbird to read email. I have four email accounts. One is
Gmail. The other three are SBC Global, which is both ATT.com mail and
Yahoo Mail. What that means is that I have ATT.com in the server
settings but go to Yahoo.com when the spirit moves me to read messages
on the web.
Anyway, On Monday, the Gmail app on my cell phone gave me an unexpected
error message about there being no password for one of my SBC Global
accounts. Since I hadn't changed anything, I just went into settings and
reentered the same password. That fixed the problem.
The next day, everything was working fine on my phone, but I got the
same type of error message in Thunderbird on my Windows 10 PC. The
problem is with the same SBC Global account, and the error message says
something like, "Trouble sending password."
What I remember from password problems in the past is that the next
thing that should happen is that a dialog should open prompting me for
the password. That's not happening here.
In Thunderbird, I've gone into Server settings, but I'm not finding
where you enter or change a password.
I've also tried going into Tools > Options > Privacy and Security >
Saved Passwords. Pressing enter on the option for showing saved
passwords brings up a screen that isn't very accessible, especially with
Jaws. With Narrator and NVDA, I can read my passwords, which are all
correct. According to what I've read on the web, I should be able to
click on one to edit it, but that's not working for me.
I eventually used the Removed Saved Passwords button to clear everything
and start over. Next time I open Thunderbird, I got the dialog for
entering passwords for all my accounts. All are fine except the one that
started this whole mess.
I'd chalk this up to an SBC Global / ATT / Yahoo Mail issue except that
the account is behaving on my phone.
If anyone has suggestions or possible explanations, I'd love the wisdom.
Thanks.
Ciao
