Carollee wrote " I am only 52, biopsy diagnosed CD 6 yrs ago
and am somewhat alarmed by my apparent inability to remember names or words.
I don't forget things such as where I put items, or appointments or those
type of items, but I frequently (some days worsethan others) just can't reach
for words I know I know. My doctor hastested for all the usual causes
without any results. At first Ithought it might be hormonal, but I am on
hormone replacement therapy.
Anyone else experience this?"

I am 59 and have been on gf diet for almost 30 years. I have never had a
great memory. In college, I'd study for hours, do very well on the exam, but
remember almost nothing of what I had studied a few hours after the exam.

Today, my ability to recall information, names, dates, words is getting worse.
My adult children tease me about not being able to tell them anything about a
book I had completed the day before, or a movie or tv program I just saw.

I thing the problem has more to do with accessing the information than with
memory, because the word, name, etc. will come back to me hours later.
Sometimes I remember all sorts of extraneous information, but not the
specific word or name I'm searching for.

Also, my situation is similar to Carollees in that I don't forget where I put
things, appointments, etc. I too take estrogen replacement.

I never thought it had anything to do with celiac, but your letter made me
wonder.
