Don't know if this is helpful, but there are some major issues with the Braille drivers in Narrator. For example, if using JAWS, you have to turn off Braille in Narrator before JAWS can recognize the Braille display. It is likely that the same conflict occurs when running NVDA. You might try uninstalling Braille in Narrator, turning off Braille in Narrator, and then reinstalling your QBraille with JAWS and/or NVDA. I have not had any issues with JAWS and NVDA sharing a display.

I bought a HIMS QBraille XL earlier this year, but I'm just now getting around to reading the manual and setting it up. The manual is an interesting experience. It's generally clear, but it often forgets small yet important details or gets them slightly wrong, so I find myself pausing in the middle of something that shouldn't be difficult to do some trial-and-error.
My current adventure is connecting the QBraille to my Windows Surface Pro 7. I sort of had things working yesterday, but after a little too much trial and error, the connection mostly stopped working. I erased all previous connections and started over today. Now I'm not able to connect.
I'll write down what I think I'm supposed to be doing. If anyone has done this successfully and can correct my process, I'm happy to take the help.
Before going any further, I'll say two things. first, I found a helpful YouTube video for connecting the QBraille to Jaws, but the YouTuber also forgets to detail what he's doing at a couple of key moments. Second, when I selected HIMS as my braille display manufacturer in Narrator, braille drivers were installed.
Here are the steps I'm using.
1. On the PC, I went into Narrator settings. I turned on braille, selected HIMS and Com4, and configured braille settings, like braille tables and cursor dots.
2. On the PC, I installed the QBraille USB drivers though things were working better before I did that.
3. On the QBraille, I went into Connectivity, activated the option for
setting up a bluetooth connection for the braille display, and waited
for the braille display name followed by a number to appear on the display.
4. On the PC, I went into Bluetooth settings and went through the steps
for adding a Bluetooth device. Yesterday the PC found and connected to
the Braille Edge, which is what is supposed to happen, but the QBraille
never displayed anything that was on the computer screen. Today the PC
isn't finding the QBraille at all.
5. I think the next step is on the QBraille. I think I'm supposed to
press the pairing key followed by one of the first six function keys to
let the QBraille know how to connect to this device in future, but this
hasn't worked for the braille display connection. I also think that I'm
supposed to set my com port on the display at some point, but I haven't
figured out how.
6. On the QBraille, I'm somehow supposed to get back to the connectivity
menu for the QBraille. I managed it yesterday, but I'm not sure how I
did it.
7. On the QBraille, I went into Connectivity, activated the option for
setting up a bluetooth connection for the keyboard, and waited for the
keyboard name followed by a number to appear on the display.
8. On the PC, I went back into Bluetooth settings and went through the
steps for adding a Bluetooth device. Yesterday the PC found and
connected to the QBraille, which is what is supposed to happen.
9. I think the next step is on the QBraille. I think I'm supposed to
press the pairing key followed by one of the last six function keys to
let the QBraille know how to connect to this device in future. This is
what I remember doing, and this worked yesterday.
10. Once everything is paired successfully for the first time, I'm fuzzy
about what to do the next time I want to use my display with my tablet.
