I used the following tutorial to learn Goldwave:

On earlier computers, I had to go through the preliminary steps 
described here. On more recent computers, I just press ctrl+n, then F9 I 
think.

In Goldwave, I can play and edit files. My problem is that I can't 
extend the recording time. When I follow the steps in this tutorial, the 
recording time appears to be extended, but when I actually record 
something, recording stops after the initial number of minutes, which is 
one or five or something.
