Hi all,
I just read an article about accessibility improvements to the Windows
10 anniversary update. It's posted here:
http://betanews.com/2016/07/02/windows-10-anniversary-update-accessibility/
My sense is that the writer of the article doesn't know anything about
accessibility because he just sort of repeated that there will be lots
of fantastic updates, then copied a bunch of stuff directly from Microsoft.
I'm curious about the new TTS engines. I currently use Microsoft David
with NVDA. Speed aside, the TTS engine is sluggish. In other words,
there's a little bit of a delay between the key press and the response.
I don't really notice it when I'm reading email and poking around on the
web, but I notice it a lot when I'm trying to get work done.
If anyone here is a beta tester, please report on that and on anything
else that seems interesting. For example, it sounds like the keystrokes
for Narrator have changed. But is there new functionality? My experience
with Narrator now is that it's close to being a screen reader, but not
quite a screen reader yet. Is it closer or about the same?
Thanks.
Ciao
