If you completely shut down the computer then turn it back on again, Windows 10 will make no sound when it starts. However, if you choose Restart instead of Shut Down which doesn't completely turn off the computer, you will get a Windows startup sound at the appropriate point in time.

Subject: Re: [VICUG-L] Windows10 startup sound question
Evry once in a while I get a startup sound that is similar to what I heard from Windows 7. It seems as though it only happens after an update and, of course, a full shutdown. I'm running 10 on an updated Windows 7 machine.
