Hi.



Jarte is a nice little word processor. It's easy to use and uses the 

old-school menu bar instead of the ribbon. However, if you want to use 

it to open newer Word files with the .docx extension you'll need to 

install a Word compatibility program, which is free.



For people who can't afford Microsoft Office but who need a bit more 

power than what you get with Jarte or Wordpad I would encourage you to 

download the free LibreOffice suite at



www.LibreOffice.org



It's more along the lines of what Microsoft Office offers but the 

program is not quite as screen reader friendly as Office. Still, it's 

usable and it really does offer most of what you get with programs like 

Word and Excel. It's similar to OpenOffice but they release updates more 

frequently.
