Hi all,
See below, this is what I sent to Ricky, at Hadley Presents, after they
had a presentation from Brian, who works at Google, which I missed, so I
sent her this question, and I'm sending it to this list as well, in case
someone knows even more up to date info. Below my question to her,
you'll see her reply back to me.
Hi Ricky,
I am on the vicug-l list, and I just got the info about you sitting down
with Android Accessibility Product Manager Brian Kemler. Unfortunately,
I got
it too late for a question. But I really need to know if there is an
Android phone with no touch screen that I could use, or, if there is an
Android phone
that would let me do everything by voice. I would do a touch screen, but
my fingers don't work very well, so I would need an Android phone with
keys on
it, or, I would need an Android phone that gives me complete voice
control over everything on the phone.
You take care, and thanks!
Harry
Ricky responded to me with this answer.
Hello Harry,
Great question! I'll send this to Brian for his input.
In the meantime, are you aware of the BlindShell Classic phone? It does
have a keyboard and has all the functions you'd expect from a smart
phone. The
drawback to this approach is that you would use the apps loaded on the
phone, you wouldn't install Android apps that others might be using.
Whether this
approach would work for you really depends on what tasks you'd like to
accomplish with your phone. You can find more info at
https://www.blindshell.com
I know that Google itself does not produce hardware that has a keyboard,
but I am hoping there is a third-party phone that runs Android and has a
keyboard.
I will keep you up to date with any information I find.
Warm regards,
Ricky Enger
