Harry,
These files are associated with Microsoft Word. If you do not have Word, then you will probably not be able to open them. There may be other applications such as QRead that will open them if you do not want to pay for a subscription for Microsoft Office. A personal subscription for Office is relatively inexpensive. Take a look at https://office.microsoft.com for more details.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
P

Subject: [VICUG-L] cannot read any .docx file, at all, and I need these files!
Hi all,
using windows 10, and Jaws 2018. The problem is, I have some files that
are .docx files, and Wordpad won't read them. I open the file, and it
says word pad, not responding.
So, how in the heck do I read these files?
I have files from March, 2008 through December, 2011 that I need to
read, and Wordpad won't do it, and notepad won't do it either.
So where to go from here? Am I just going to have to delete these files,
and not have them any more?
Harry
