It would help to know what operating system and screen reader your
using. I'm running Firefox on Linux with Orca, and I still have a
dedicated search bar. If I want to change default search engines for
that search bar, I just hit F6 and tab over to the search bar. Once
there, I use alt+down-arrow arrow down to the search engine I want and
then hit enter. That's now my default search engine.
