Harry,
I've been putting folders on the desktop for multiple Windows versions for a long time. Even better news for you - you can create shortcut keys to these folders. Just shift F10 on a folder & select properties. Usually you will already be in the shortcut tab; if not then cntl tab to get there. Then tab to shortcut key & enter the key you want to use as your shortcut key. Once you exit you can now use alt cntl shortcut key to open the folder.
What I have been able to do in older Windows versions but not in Windows 10 is create a desktop icon for a flash drive. You used to be able to shift F10 on the drive & get a create desktop shortcut option or a send to option with desktop shortcut in the submenu. These options no longer exist for a flash drive unfortunately. If anyone knows how to create a desktop shortcut for a flash drive, please post instructions.

Subject: [VICUG-L] putting folders on the desktop, not on the c drive? that's right!
Hi all,
For years, I have always been told that I should put folders on the C drive, itself.
However, with Windows 10, and thanks to CathyAnnes wonderful series about windows 10 and jaws, I have now learned, that yes, I can, put all my folders, on the desktop.
What a wonderful thing that is!!! Think of it folks, no more clicking computer, then finding a folder you need! You can put all your folders on your desktop. That saves 2 steps in finding a folder!
I'd like to hear what folks think of that idea.
Harry
